Save the Date: TSHP 2014 Annual Seminar

Picture
Houston is the nation's 4th largest city.
The TSHP 2014 Annual Seminar will be held at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Houston, TX, April 11-13.

Program details will be available later this year, but watch our site and save the date!

TSHP Elections Results

TSHP Members selected Shane Greene, Pharm.D., BCPS of Mansfield, TX as the next President-Elect and Steven Knight, Pharm.D., BCPS, of Dallas as the Secretary-Elect.

Greene, is in his twelfth year as a clinician-educator at the Texas Tech UHSC School of Pharmacy’s Dallas Campus.   Knight is the  transplant pharmacist at Methodist Dallas Medical Center near downtown Dallas.

Both will be installed during the TSHP’s 66th  Annual Seminar in Houston (April 11-13, 2014), but will serve in an ex-officio capacity on the TSHP Executive Committee and Board of Directors until that time.

Bylaws Amendments

TSHP members approved several amendments to the TSHP Bylaws via the recent election. Most of the proposals were technical and ‘clean-up’ in nature, but one makes a change in the composition of the TSHP Board of Directors.

Effective immediately the Board will consist of the 5 statewide officers (President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Treasurer and Secretary), the President of each local chapter, and the chair of each Section.  There are currently 4 Sections – Students, Technicians, Industry and Pharmacy Management.

This will keep TSHP in a leadership position among state societies and other pharmacy organizations, by adding a student, technician and industry associate to its board in a voting capacity.  The new structure will continue the geographic input achieved through its 12 local chapters and result in a Board of 21 individuals, plus the two ex-officio officers.

Annual Seminar CPE Credit

In order to receive CPE Credit, you must complete the required Session Evaluations which are now available here: http://www.tshp.org/session-handouts--evaluations.html. You will be asked to provide your NABP e-Profile ID and Month & Day of Birth. You will need to complete an evaluation for each session you are requesting credit for.

Credit will not instantly appear in your My CPE Monitor profiles. We will upload submitted evaluations for credit each Friday until June 30, 2013. No credit will be issued after June 30th, so please be sure to complete ALL evaluations by June 30, 2013 to receive credit. Paper statements will NOT be provided.

Amanda Kelley, Pharm.D.

Picture
The TSHP Board of Directors honored Amanda Kelley of Dripping Springs, TX for her commitment to professional organizations and organizational work by
presenting her TSHP’s first Special Recognition Award earlier this Spring. Dr. Kelley is a member of the Austin Area Society of Health System Pharmacists, for which she volunteered before and since graduation. She served as AASHP Director-at-Large for 4 years.  She arranged for area pharmacists to work in the local Volunteer Healthcare Clinic and brought new ideas and input to the AASHP Board.  She is a member of AASHP, TSHP, Phi Delta Chi, the TSHP New Practitioner Section (for which she served as Secretary in 2012), and a volunteer at Thundering Paws, a member of the Dripping Springs Choir Boosters and Theatre Boosters, and a volunteer pharmacist at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic.  She exemplifies the standard for new practitioner involvement in professional organizations at the local society level.

Amanda is the Pharmacist Night Shift Coordinator at Seton Medical Center Hays
in Buda, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of
Pharmacy in 2008.

Congratulations!
