Mission Statement

 

To advance the practice of pharmacy through developing and supporting research and educational opportunities which enhance patient care.

 

Vision Statement

 

Achieve national recognition for being the premier state foundation:

 

  • as the pharmacy leader in providing opportunities for research, education, training and scholarships. 
  • in stimulating the development of quality programs and systems for advancing pharmacy practice. 
  • as the primary innovator of a dynamic pharmacy leadership development model, in partnership with TSHP. 
  • as the leading provider of innovative traineeships and skills-based programs that enhance patient care, in partnership with TSHP.
  • for supportive research and education through funding of seed grants. 
  • for honoring and rewarding excellence in pharmacy practice. 

General Scholarships

 

These scholarships are awarded to the four (soon to be six) Texas Pharmacy schools and are funded by the proceeds of invested funds donated to the Foundation by TSHP members and corporate sponsors.

 

Named Funds

 

The Austin Area Society Scholarship was established in 1999 by the Austin Area Society of Health-System Pharmacists. This scholarship is restricted to pharmacy students attending the University of Texas.

 

The Celso & Matiana Cuellar Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 by current TSHP R&E Foundation President Lourdes M. Cuellar in memory of her parents.

 

The Central Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship was established in 2002 and is awarded to pharmacy students in their last year of school who are completing their clinical rotations in San Antonio and attend the monthly CTSHP meetings regularly while on rotation in San Antonio.

 

The James T. Doluisio Scholarship was established in 1998 in honor of former University of Texas College of Pharmacy Dean James T. Doluisio.

 

The El Paso Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarships:  The first scholarship was established in 2002 and the second in 2003 by the El Paso Society of Health-System Pharmacists.  These scholarships are restricted to students from El Paso.

 

The Phyllis B. Ginsburg Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of the mother of TSHP R&E Foundation Vice-President, Diane B. Ginsburg.

 

The Jon Peyton Hudlow Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Jon Peyton Hudlow, (1946-1995), past president of TSHP and TSHP R&E Foundation board member.

 

The Gene Lake Scholarship was established in 2001 in honor of Gene Lake, a long time TSHP R&E Foundation Board member who retired from employment with Abbott Laboratories in 2000.  This scholarship is restricted to pharmacy students from West Texas.

 

The Glenda Lawson McRee Memorial Scholarship was established in 2001 in memory of Glenda Lawson McRee, past president of TSHP and TSHP R&E Board member from 1993-2001.  Glenda was a long-time Chair of the Scholarship Committee.  This scholarship is restricted to nominations from the TSHP-affiliated Student Society at each of the Texas Schools of Pharmacy, or nominated by the TSHP Board of Directors.

 

The Robert G. Leonard Memorial Scholarship was established in 1981 as a separate fund as a memorial to Bob Leonard, well-known and respected member of the clinical pharmacy practice faculty of the University of Texas Clinical Pharmacy Division at San Antonio.  This fund is dedicated to the support of clinical pharmacy education and research in the State of Texas. 

 

The Mark Tamble Memorial Scholarship was established in 1996 in memory of Mark Tamble (1930-1995), District Sales Manager of Smith, Kline and French Laboratories.  Mark was a long time supporter of the TSHP R&E Foundation and served on the Foundation for many years. He twice received the TSHP Industry Service Award and also the TSHP Award of Honor.

 

The Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacists and awarded to a pharmacy student in an undergraduate or graduate pharmacy program, who is a member of the Gulf Coast Society and demonstrates exemplary leadership skills.

 

The Sandra Evans Webb Scholarship was established in 2000 in honor of Sandra Evans Webb, former Executive Vice President of the TSHP R&E Foundation.  Mrs. Webb served on the University of Houston College of Pharmacy faculty for a number of years. This scholarship is restricted to University of Houston pharmacy students.
