_Industry Section membership shall consist of those Society members who have common interests, goals or practice settings relating to the pharmaceutical industry.

Discussion:

• The group reviewed feedback concerning the use of “bingo cards” as traffic builders from previous exhibits and discussed other methods to enhance participation by attendees.  It was noted that new PhRMA and FDA guidelines placed manufacturers at a disadvantage by being unable to provide ‘door prizes’ or other gifts for attendees;
• The group will give further consideration to the TSHP Technician Section membership brochure and ways to adapt it for an Associate (Industry) membership tool.  Ideas include quotations from current members and examples of benefits (such as the newsletter, first choice on exhibit booths and Reverse Expo; and preferred access to TSHP events) that may be overlooked by some;
• Paul reported on the exhibits (43), Reverse Expo (20 directors; 12 companies plus 2 or 3 additional reps) and general Annual Seminar activities;
• A method to provide a reception/social gathering for exhibitors prior to opening of exhibits was discussed.  TSHP leaders and Section Officers would be present to thank exhibitors and discuss the advantages of Section membership;
• Paul reviewed actions by the Board of Directors to set total local and state Associate member dues at $95, effective immediately, with details on breakout of local and state dues to be determined.  The action was the result of a recommendation from the Section, designed to stimulate Associate membership in TSHP and the Section.

Decisions:

• Minutes of the December 21, 2010 meeting were approved;
• We will not use “bingo cards” or other mechanisms this year for traffic builders, to await results of the Reverse Expo and other program changes.
